End of the Year Student Gifts

These End of the Year Student Gifts are a great and inexpensive way to make your students feel super special!

Every year, I like to give my students some sort of memorable gift at the end of the year. One year, I wrote my class a poem (kind of fun, but a bit boring), another year, I made everyone homemade brownies and wrote each student an individualized card (yummy!). But the past few years I've been putting together these great gift bags that don't end up costing me too much (about $4 a bag)!

I love these gift bags because not only do students receive something that makes them feel special, but I also like for my kids to walk away from our year together knowing how much I cared for each and every one of them.

The gifts vary from year-to-year (depending on what Target and the Dollar Spot have), but generally I include a letter they write to themselves at the beginning of the year, the college pennant they make for my class, our close reading strategies bookmarks, pencils, pens, erasers, highlighters, and a laminated quote from class.

In addition to the contents of the bag, I also hand write each of my darlings a note that mentions something specific to them. For one of my students in the past, it was one of the most profound moments of participation for him, and it really touched my heart.

Do these take me a while? Yes.

But are they worth it? Absolutely!

Seeing my students' faces light up knowing that I truly do care about them and their future is 100% worth it to me.

Do you give gifts to your students at the end of your year together?
